For this particular release my crew and I were up and at ’em bright and early. There was so much pandemonium going around on the VinylNation.net boards about people lining up super early that we decided to head out earlier then planned! So my team of four assembled around 3:30 in the morning and grabbed some donuts and caffeine and made our way to the Disneyland Resort.
Upon arriving at the Downtown Disney parking lot, we were numbers 102 through 105 in line. Unfortunately, this “line” we were forming was unofficial. A VinylNation.net member took names as people arrive, and we lined up in that order. He developed the system to help keep order at the releases. But sadly this list is not compiled by Disney therefore will not be enforced. As 5:45am rolled around, the Downtown Disney parking lot officially opened and everyone drives in and parks their cars. A second line is then formed behind the Rainforest Café until a Disney cast member escorts us into the Downtown Disney District and we line up in front of the D Street store. Thats how things usually happen... they key word being "usually".
But on this particular morning, when the Downtown Disney parking lot opened up, everyone made a mad dash for the second line regardless of line order. People who had been lined up since the night before found themselves at the back of the line, and people who had just arrived were at the very front of the line. People were complaining all morning about this to anyone and everyone who would listen. But long story short, the Disney cast members kept saying that the line was unofficial so there was nothing they could or would do about it. Although through this turn of events we ended up numbers 86 through 89 in line. So I guess we kind of lucked out!
Thankfully, there were plenty of Mickey’s to go around and everyone left with what they came for! So much drama for no reason!
These 9"/3" combo sets are fantastic! Very cool designs and a must have for any Vinylmation collector!
And so we turn to the actual pieces and explore their design origin!
In 1977 The Mickey Mouse Club was revived, now entiltled The New Mickey Mouse Club. Again, we get to see Mickey Mouse in his band uniform, but more importantly in color, which is where our Bandleader Mickey get's his color palette from!
Our Bandleader Mickey paired with our beloved Annette!
A guitar that's quite a curiosity is this nearly 60-year-old relic from American television's "Mickey Mouse Club" -- the original tenor "Mousegetar", played by host Jimmie Dodd. This particular instrument is in The Walt Disney Family Museum in California.
